Erik T. Volkmar
A Quick Biography (with a little philosophy thrown in):
It's always hard to write about yourself, but if you have come to my website, then you are probably wanting to know more about me:
I was born in the Midwestern United States, reared in the southern part of the US, and have been lucky enough to travel internationally. I currently live and work in South Carolina.
I have an MBA with a concentration in information technology, and I have worked in an IT capacity for more than 20 years. For the last 7 years, I have focused on sales-support application development such as:
Extending Microsoft Dynamics CRM functionality
Building Microsoft ClickOnce applications
Using SQL tools to move data between systems and data stores
Building interactive SQL Server Reporting Services reports
Integrating Microsoft workflows with custom HTML, JavaScript, and C# components
I take a very pragmatic approach to solving business problems and for developing applications: Let's use proven, reliable tools to help the business make better decisions to improve profitability. Cutting-edge tools should be saved for targeted, low-risk projects until they are stable and show real-world payback.
One of my favorite poems is Invictus by William Ernest Henley. I first heard the poem in the 2009 movie by the same name. It was also one of Nelson Mandela's go-to pieces when he needed inspiration.
